Well think it or not, not every country in Africa is war-torn and in continuous civil war with rebels driving down every street threatening you with AK-47s or lions on leashes. I know this may shatter your world view, but some nations are pretty well run. The biggest thing for Namibia is its previous Apartheid federal government it shared with South Africa, but that naturally has actually been officially over for a while now, and instead of bitter resentment it looks like everyone there is just delighted to have it be done. Sure some countries are much better left un-seen for the casual traveler, but Namibia is plenty safe.

This is a best place for a Phuket beach sundown cocktail.

South Africa has among the world’s worst records for motor automobile accidents, so drive with caution. Keep your range from cars in front. View out for cars and trucks coming straight at you while they are overtaking other cars and trucks. You are anticipated to pull over onto the paved shoulder – where there may be people strolling.
